Connect the Mixpanel MCP server to Unblocked to give AI agents live event analytics context

Unblocked connects to Mixpanel’s MCP server so AI coding agents can query your reports, events, and feature flags live — then its Context Engine reconciles what they find with the code, pull requests, and conversations behind them.

What the Mixpanel integration adds

Engineers ship the code that sends Mixpanel events, but the reports built on those events live in a different tool, owned by a different team. When a retention report shifts or a property starts arriving empty, an agent working in the repository has no way to see it. Mixpanel’s MCP server exposes reports, dashboards, events, and properties to AI agents, and Unblocked connects to it once so every agent can ask about Mixpanel data without its own setup.

This is a third-party MCP server: Mixpanel hosts and maintains it, and Unblocked connects to it as a verified MCP server. Nothing is ingested or indexed — Unblocked calls the read-only tools you select at the moment a question needs them, so answers reflect your Mixpanel projects, reports, and event data as they are now.

Wiring Mixpanel’s MCP server straight into an agent gives it insights and funnel queries. Unblocked’s Context Engine reasons across those results and your other sources — following an empty property in a Mixpanel report to the client release that stopped setting it, the pull request behind that release, and the Jira ticket that asked for the change — and returns one cited answer.

Once connected, any MCP-compatible coding agent — Claude Code, Cursor, Devin, GitHub Copilot, Codex — reaches Mixpanel context through a single Unblocked MCP server connection.

What you get

  • Live reports and queries — Agents run insights, funnels, flows, and retention queries and read saved reports and dashboards from your Mixpanel projects as they stand right now.
  • Events and properties beside the code — Event definitions and real property values from Mixpanel sit next to the tracking calls in your repositories, so agents see what is actually arriving before they change it.
  • Read-only, tool-level control — Mixpanel’s server can edit events, cohorts, and dashboards, but only read-only tools are offered, and you choose which of them Unblocked may call. Change the selection anytime from Settings → Data Sources.
  • Context Engine reasoning — Mixpanel results are reconciled with your code, pull requests, tickets, and conversations, so a change in a report leads to the release or flag rollout behind it — with citations.

How to connect Mixpanel to Unblocked

Prerequisites

  • An Unblocked account (free to start).
  • A Mixpanel account with access to the projects you want to query, in an organization where an admin has enabled MCP.
  • An MCP-compatible coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Devin, etc.) to use the context in your editor.

Step 1: Connect Mixpanel to Unblocked

  1. In Unblocked, go to Settings → Data Sources → Connect another data source, and under Data & Analytics select Mixpanel.
  2. The Mixpanel MCP server URL is filled in for you. Choose OAuth, click Connect, and sign in to Mixpanel to authorize Unblocked.
  3. Once Unblocked discovers the server’s tools, select the read-only tools it may use and click Save Settings.

Step 2: Install the Unblocked MCP server

On macOS or Linux, one command auto-detects and configures the supported agents on your machine:

curl -fsSL https://getunblocked.com/install-mcp.sh | bash

On Windows, or when you prefer remote MCP, add the server manually using the configuration below, or follow the manual install guide .

Claude Code

Add the remote server, then run /mcp in Claude Code, select unblocked, and log in via OAuth:

claude mcp add -s user --transport http unblocked https://getunblocked.com/api/mcpsse

Cursor

Open View: Open MCP Settings → Add Custom MCP, add the server, then click Connect to authenticate via OAuth:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "unblocked": {
      "url": "https://getunblocked.com/api/mcpsse"
    }
  }
}

Other MCP clients

Any MCP-compatible client (Devin, Codex, VS Code, Claude Desktop, and others) can connect to the remote server with OAuth:

https://getunblocked.com/api/mcpsse

Mixpanel MCP server tools

Mixpanel hosts and maintains this MCP server. Unblocked calls only the read-only tools you select, at the moment a question needs them:

  • Run-QueryRuns insights, funnels, flows, and retention queries against a Mixpanel project.
  • Get-ReportReturns a saved report, optionally including its results.
  • Get-DashboardReturns a dashboard’s metadata, text cards, and reports.
  • Get-EventsBrowses and searches the events in a project, optionally including full metadata.
  • Get-Property-ValuesReturns the values seen for a specific property.
  • List-Feature-FlagsLists and searches the feature flags in a project.

Connect Mixpanel to Claude Code, Cursor, and other AI agents

To give Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or another MCP-compatible AI coding agent access to Mixpanel context, connect Mixpanel to Unblocked and add the single Unblocked MCP server to your agent.

Unblocked acts as the MCP context layer for your Mixpanel data, searching events, reports, and funnels alongside your other connected sources and returning cited results through these tools:

  • context_researchResearches a question across your connected sources and calls the Mixpanel tools you selected when reports, events, or feature flags are relevant, returning a synthesized answer with citations.
  • context_get_urlsFetches the full content behind URLs your agent encounters across connected sources — Jira, Linear, Notion, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more.

Questions to ask an AI agent about Mixpanel

Questions you (or your agent) can ask Unblocked about your Mixpanel data:

  • Why did week-one retention in Mixpanel change after the last mobile release, and which pull requests shipped in it?
  • Which values does the plan_type property take in Mixpanel, and where in the code do we set it?
  • Is the new_editor feature flag still in Mixpanel, and is there a ticket or Slack thread about removing it?
  • Which reports on the growth dashboard depend on the invite_sent event before I rename it?
