Senior Platform Engineer

As a Platform Engineer working at Unblocked, you will provide expertise, provision infrastructure resources, and create automation tools needed by our engineering teams to get software out the door more quickly and with security in mind. You will have a significant impact on how the overall system is architected, secured, operated, and maintained.

Unblocked is a high-growth, well-funded SaaS company that helps answer questions software development teams have about their applications. This allows them to spend less time in meetings/dealing with interruptions and more time writing code.

We are a small team with track record of building developer tools that solve real problems. About You

You’ve gained extensive experience as a software engineer focused on cloud infrastructure automation with a track record of building, operating, and maintaining products that customers love. You’ve seen enough to know what not to do and still maintain an unreasonable passion to automate everything else. You are open to learning, evaluating and adopting new technologies.

Requirements

  • Based in Vancouver, British Columbia (and be in the office 4 days a week).
  • Solid grasp of networking concepts, security best practices, and system architecture design.
  • Deep understanding of container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Expert-level experience with a Cloud Platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with a configuration management tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Demonstrated leadership of fellow team members in the delivery of a project.
  • Experience collaborating with software engineering teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go for automation and tooling.
  • Experience with microservices architecture.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Github Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI).
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC2, GDPR or ISO 27001.
